Popeye’s robber chickens out when manager too slow to fork over dough
A manager at a Liberty City Popeye’s Chicken & Biscuits inadvertently thwarted an armed robbery — nervously fumbling to open the cash register for so long that the gunman chickened out.
On a video of the Saturday incident, a man covering his face with a napkin asked a crew member to see her manager. Once the manager came to the bulletproof security glass, the man stuck a silver revolver in the cash slot and demanded money. The manager tried to open the register for almost 20 seconds — long enough that the would-be robber ran out of patience and left without any money.
The black male robber was described as being 30 to 40 years old, heavy set, dressed in a navy blue, long-sleeved shirt, navy blue pants and a camouflage hat. The name of the manager was not released.
