A fire broke out in an abandoned wooden-frame house in Little Haiti early Wednesday evening.

The house, located at 8100 NE First Ave., was often occupied by drug users, said Capt. Ignatius Carroll of Miami Fire Rescue. Noone was injured and noone in the neighborhood was displaced, he said.

Carroll said he didn’t know yet what caused the fire, which started around 5:30 p.m. According to Carroll, a bystander said she saw a woman lighting a cigarette or a similar object in front of the house, just moments before firefighters arrived. Smoke reached 50 to 60 feet in the air, he said.

A woman with a burn on her arm called 911 at 7:14 p.m. from a pizzeria at 79th Street and Northeast Seventh Avenue, Carroll said. She apparently had stopped by Fire Station #13, 79th Street and Northeast 10th Avenue, but no one answered because they were at the scene, he added.

Miami-Dade property records show the property owner as Ibanieta LLC TRS, c/o Cosmo Mgmt. LLC. The registered agent for Ibanieta is Josiane Aldabe, 9190 Biscayne Blvd., #202, according to records from the Florida Secretary of State’s Office.
