More than 200 people were evacuated from an apartment building in Liberty City Sunday night because of a fire, according to the Miami-Dade Fire Department.
The fire happened at 5185 NW 29th Ave. Those inside were evacuated because of water damage, Miami Fire Fighter Michelle Fayed said.
“The sprinklers did their job by going off,” Fayed said. “But there was significant water damage.”
The American Red Cross responded to help those who were displaced.
No injuries were reported Sunday night. It was not clear where the blaze began or what caused it.
