Stolen vehicle rams cop car, takes off and crashes. A woman is ejected, killed, cops say.

Miami-Dade police were trying to untangle what led to a Wednesday afternoon fatal wreck that began when a stolen vehicle rammed a police car, then fled and struck another car. A woman was ejected from a vehicle and was killed, police said.

Police said Wednesday night that detectives from the county’s Robbery Intervention Detail had tried to stop a BMW after a tag check revealed it was stolen, but the driver “accelerated forward,” hit the detective’s car and took off.

The incident began when the detectives noticed the BMW heading westbound on Northwest 79th Street just before 3:30 p.m., police said. Detectives attempted to stop the car near Northwest Sixth Avenue.

When detectives approached, police say the driver, Zaykesse Johnson, 18, fled westbound on 79th Street and hit another car at Northwest 22nd Avenue.

Johnson, police say, lost control of the BMW in the area of Northwest 71st Street. The BMW busted through a fence and into an open field before flipping several times.

Both Johnson and his passenger, Winny Victor, 19, were ejected. Victor died from her injuries.

Police said charges are pending against Johnson, who is in the hospital in good condition, police said.
