Funeral-goer shot by police is arrested and charged
A man who was shot by police during a traffic stop has been arrested, police said Wednesday.
Wadson Sagaille, 24, had outstanding arrest warrants for second-degree murder and probation violations, police said.
Miami-Dade’s Robbery Intervention Detail was helping the Miami Police Department to locate Sagaille. They got a tip saying he was at a funeral in the area of Northwest 71st Street and 51st Avenue, police said.
On Tuesday, the man was seen by police outside the funeral home and getting into the passenger seat of a maroon Nissan Murano. When Miami-Dade police stopped him in traffic at Northwest 17th Avenue and 73rd Street, Sagaille got out of the car and pointed a gun at an officer, police said. At that point, an officer fired shots. The gun found at the scene was reported stolen last year.
Sagaille was taken to a hospital in stable condition with a gunshot wound, police said.
