FPL gives $1 million to Frost Science Museum
Another corporate donor has lined up to support the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science, under construction in downtown Miami’s Museum Park.
Florida Power & Light has donated $1 million to go toward the museum’s Innovation Center. Another gift is a bonus: $80,000 worth of photovoltaic solar panels, for use on the rooftop solar farm.
In September, Baptist Health South Florida became the $300 million project’s first major corporate donor when it committed $5 million for a space devoted to health and wellness.
The museum, scheduled to open in 2016, has raised more than $90 million from private sources with an eventual goal of reaching $135 million. County bond money is covering $165 million of the total.
