Man killed in hit-and-run accident near downtown Miami

Miami police are looking for a driver who hit a man on a scooter and ultimately took him on a fatal ride on the trunk of their car early Saturday morning.

The man was riding his scooter at about 1:50 a.m. in the area of West Flagler Street and North Miami Avenue when a driver in a silver Mazda ran a red light and hit the scooter.

The victim was knocked onto the trunk of the car as the driver continued going. The man eventually fell off as the Mazda made its way on to Interstate 95 and died due to his injuries.

Police have not released the victim’s identity and are looking for a silver or gray Mazda Sedan with tinted windows and front-end, windshield and trunk damage.
