Miami police are searching for a suspect who fatally stabbed a man Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

Around 3:20 p.m., officers were alerted to a stabbing in the area of First Avenue and West Flagler Street, Miami Police Officer Ralph Horta said. They found a man, in his 40s or 50s, who had been stabbed in his left armpit.

Lt. Pete Sanchez, Miami Fire Rescue spokesman, said paramedics took the man to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital “in extremely critical condition.”

Later in the evening, police confirmed the man, who was not identified, died of his injuries.

Officers are still searching for the suspect, whose description was unavailable.
