Venetian Causeway closed for two hours after report of suspicious package, police say

Miami police closed the entrance to the Venetian Causeway for two hours over a report of a suspicious package Monday night, according to the agency.

The department made the announcement on X, formerly Twitter, shortly after 6:30 p.m.

Around 8:30 p.m., police said the area was “cleared and rendered safe.”

Police did not immediately respond to questions regarding the specific item that prompted the investigation.

A video posted on the X account for Only In Dade showed police deploy an explosives ordnance robot onto the causeway, which connects the city of Miami to Miami Beach.
