We have some good news and some bad news about traffic around Kaseya Ceter, the newly named arena where the Miami Heat will play the New York Knicks on Monday night.

What to know:

When is the Miami Heat-New York Knicks game?

Game time: The tip-off is 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Kaseya Center in downtown Miami.

Traffic impact: While Heat fans are known for arriving late to the game, this is a playoff game. So more fans will likely arrive before tip-off. That means city streets, surrounding highway ramps and public and private parking will fill up earlier. Arriving fans driving to the game may encounter an exodus of downtown Miami workers eager to get out of there and get home.

Are there any other traffic issues in downtown Miami?

Events: Lucky for you, if you’re driving to the Heat game or commuting home, major downtown Miami venues are dark on Monday evening. The Arsht Center for the Performing Arts is between performances, with “Ain’t Too Proud” starting on Tuesday, May 9. The Bayfront Park amphitheater won’t have a major performance until Saturday, May 13.

Delays: Unlucky for you, there are always traffic back-ups at the beginning and end of Miami Heat games as parking lots empty and drivers hit the road in what is a construction zone on highways running through downtown. Miami Heat games generally run 2 1/2 to 3 hours so there will be a lull after the 7:30 p.m. tip-off until the end of the game after 10 p.m.

What highway delays are in the area?

Construction: Take note that if you are leaving the arena after the game, you may encounter a detour. Up to two lanes of westbound State Road 836 from Interstate 95 to Northwest 17th Avenue will be closed as needed between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. all week. Same goes for the eastbound 836 ramp to northbound I-95.
