Over 28,000 runners and walkers have signed up for the 2022 Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run in downtown Miami — and that could mean traffic jams for drivers.

The 3.1-mile run is Thursday starting at 6:45 p.m. in Bayfront Park, but street closures will begin hours earlier, according to the Miami police. Streets along the route won’t completely reopen until about 11 p.m, police said.

The friendly race will start by the park’s southern section, going west on Southeast Second Street and under Interstate 95 before heading north on North River Drive. At the intersection with Northwest Fifth Street, participants will turn east before quickly heading north on Northwest Sixth Street. At the crossing with Northwest Third Court, they will turn south, then east on Northeast Third Street, finally south on Biscayne Boulevard, arriving at the finish line by the northern side of the park.

Whether you are planning to pick up your kids from Downtown Miami Charter School, be at the courthouse, leave Miami Dade College or attend game night at The Wharf Miami, you’re going to need a plan if you don’t want to get stuck in traffic.

These are the detours and closures to know, according to the event’s organizer:
