Downtown Miami

Man shot, injured in downtown Miami. Police are investigating.

A man was shot in downtown Miami on Thursday evening near the Paramount building.

At around 8:50 p.m., Miami police responded to a call of a man being shot several times in the area of Northeast Eighth Street and First Avenue, police said.

Miami Fire Rescue took the man, whom police did not identify, to Jackson Memorial Trauma Center for treatment.

Police did not release any information on a possible shooter. The investigation is ongoing.

A bystander, Joel Furrer, told WSVN Channel 7 that a man was shot in the street and ran into the Paramount lobby.

“We came out through the lobby, and we heard that someone got shot,” Furrer told the station. “We were told that he was at the light and came over to the lobby for help, and that’s where he collapsed. As soon as we came out of the lobby, there was paramedics loading up the guy into the gurney. There was gauze with blood on it, so there’s definitely something that did happen.”
