Miami-Dade man thought he was sexually messaging a 14-year-old girl. It was a cop
A Miami-Dade man was unknowingly at the center of a police-led sting operation when he was allegedly sexually messaging and sending explicit messages to someone he thought was a 14-year-old girl — but was actually a detective, authorities say.
Jorjeans Caballero Gonzalez, 29, is facing 16 counts of electronic transmission harmful to minors, six counts of promoting sexual performance by a child, one count of seducing a child to engage in sexual conduct and once count of unlawful use of a communications device, his arrest report read.
In March, the City of Doral Police Department learned that Caballero Gonzalez, using the username Jorjeansc25, had an “inappropriate” chat with an 11-year-old on Snapchat, a messaging app. The discovery kicked off an undercover operation that started March 27.
A detective began a days-long Snapchat conversation with Caballero Gonzalez while pretending to be a 14-year-old girl, to which Caballero Gonzalez falsely replied he was a 15-year-old boy.
However, he didn’t continue that lie long and eventually admitted to the fake 14-year-old that he was 29, the report read.
Authorities said the conversation started off “casual” but grew more disturbing as Caballero Gonzalez said he wanted to meet the young girl because he wanted a “romantic relationship with the right girl.”
Caballero Gonzalez employed several grooming strategies during the continued chats with the undercover detective. He offered to buy gifts, asked if her parents knew, and tried to coax her to meet at her home while her parents were away, the report read.
One chat read, ”This is going to be a secret between us.”
“Let me know that day when no one is looking, so I can enter your house without anyone calling you mom,“ another read.
He also slowly suggested performing sexual acts with each other before he began sending porn.
Caballero Gonzalez asked to see the young girl nude at least six times, on some occasions adding a request for sex, Doral police said. He also sent about 16 pornographic images and videos.
He was arrested Wednesday. During a police interview, detectives said he told them that “ … he was a person with special needs and did not fully understand his rights.”
As of Thursday, Caballero Gonzalez was in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
