Doral police motorman airlifted to JMH after crash
A Doral police officer is conscious and in stable condition after he was injured in a motorcycle crash Friday afternoon, Local 10 News reports.
The officer was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center after the accident.
Maggie Santos, Doral’s public information officer, told the Miami Herald that the officer’s motorcycle was the only vehicle involved.
On Saturday morning, the Doral police department tweeted that Officer Mauro Oliveira — a 10-year veteran of the force — is “recuperating and his condition is improving.”
The crash occurred on Northwest 112th Avenue and 97th Street. WSVN 7News reported that slippery roads due to rain may have contributed to the crash.
On Friday night, Doral Police Chief Hernan Organvidez told WSVN 7News that the officer sustained head injuries and was undergoing a CT scan.
Police closed Northwest 112th Avenue from 90th Street to 105th Street for several hours before reopening it to traffic. The officer’s clothes and the bike’s windshield could be seen on the sidewalk several hours after the crash.
An earlier version of this article incorrectly said that another vehicle was involved. It was a single-vehicle crash.
