Miami-Dade police on Monday released the names of the two men involved in a deadly shooting on the Palmetto Expressway last week that police called a possible case of road rage.
The shooting happened at about 10:15 a.m. Friday on the Northwest 25th Street exit off State Road 826 in Doral just after morning rush hour.
Police say Jason Giles, 31, was driving a tractor trailer and Felix Valdes Jr., 33, was in a Nissan Altima when they both stopped on the exit ramp.
Giles, armed with a knife, then got out of his truck and walked toward the Altima, police said. Valdes got out of his car, police said, and the two got in a physical fight.

Valdes then shot Giles, police said.
On Monday, police said the investigation was ongoing and no charges have yet been filed.
“It is still being determined if Mr. Valdes broke any laws in regards to this incident,” said Argemis Colome, a spokesman for Miami-Dade police. “If he did, there will be formal charges presented. However, this is still an open investigation and detectives will make that determination.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade police at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
