Coral Gables crash leaves driver with critical injuries

Coral Gables police are investigating a crash that left one of the drivers with critical injuries on Sunday morning.

Police went to the crash site at 7:18 a.m. after a gray Ford Fusion rear-ended a gray Isuzu Rodeo at a red light at the intersection of South Dixie Highway and Riviera Drive. Both vehicles had been heading west on South Dixie Highway, according to police.

The driver of the Isuzu suffered critical injuries and was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center by Miami-Dade Air Rescue. No passengers were in the vehicles.

The second driver who caused the crash is being investigated for driving under the influence, and alcohol tests are pending, according to police.
