Gables restaurant week kicks off with ‘Taste of the Gables’ event

The ninth edition of Coral Gables restaurant week officially begins June 6 but the city will kick things off Thursday with an event at the Westin Colonnade Hotel.

“Taste of the Gables” will serve as the first taste of three weeks of deals and diverse dining experiences. The event will go from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday and will take place at the Westin Colonnade, 180 Aragon Ave. Tickets are $100 each and are available for purchase at restaurantweek.shopcoralgables.com. The event is for guests 21 and older and will feature samples from some of the dozens of participating restaurants. Guests will also vote on a favorite dish of the night.

More than 40 restaurants are participating, many located in or near downtown Coral Gables. Some of the restaurants include Trust & Co., Bulla Gastrobar, The Local Craft Food & Drink, Swine Southern Table & Bar, Christy’s and Tarpon Bend Raw Bar & Grill.

The kickoff event and restaurant week are organized by the city’s Business Improvement District. Marina Foglia, the district’s executive director, said the event is an opportunity for residents and visitors to experience a variety of cuisine at more convenient prices.

“With the variety of restaurants we have, it’s like you get to dine around the world within walking distance,” Foglia said in a press release.

After the kickoff event, the deals begin June 6 and run through June 26. The city will also continue its discounted $5 rate for valet parking on Miracle Mile. The three-week experience will also include some specialty events at various restaurants and venues.
