Power outage forces closure of courthouse in Coral Gables
All of Tuesday's hearings at the Coral Gables Branch Courthouse had to be postponed after a lightning strike caused a power outage, according to Miami-Dade courts spokeswoman Eunice Sigler.
Sigler said the power went out about 9 a.m, causing more than 100 small-claims pre-trial hearings to be rescheduled, as well as several other hearings.
The courthouse at 3100 Ponce De Leon Blvd. is a branch of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court.
By 5:30 p.m., Florida Power and Light, which worked on the problem all day, announced it had restored power. The courthouse was expected to reopen Wednesday morning.
