Multiple people shot at Miami apartment complex off Coral Way
Miami police were investigating Monday night a shooting of multiple people at an apartment complex in the Coral Way area just east of Coral Gables.
Police said two or three people were transported to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
The shootings took place around 2:15 p.m. Monday at an apartment at 3600 SW 17th Ter., said Miami Police Sgt. Freddie Cruz. A mauve Chevrolet Malibu that sat in front of the gas station's market was believed to be involved in the incident.
Maria Uribe, who lives nearby, told Miami Herald news partner CBS4 that she saw an ambulance take two people.
“I was just holding my baby here so I freaked out. I just locked the door and went inside my room,” Uribe said. “I don’t feel safe anymore. This has never happened around here.”
Cruz said the motive for the shooting was unknown.
“It’s still up in there,” he said.
