Woman robbed at gunpoint on UM’s campus; robber on the run
A woman was robbed at gunpoint on the Coral Gables campus of the University of Miami Tuesday night, police said.
The woman was not a student at UM; she was in her 40s. She was standing behind the university’s Watsco Center, 1245 Dauer Dr., sometime after 8 p.m., Coral Gables police spokeswoman Kelly Denham said.
She was approached from behind, Denham added. It was not immediately clear how many suspects were involved or what was taken, Denham said.
WSVN7 reported the robber or robbers stole the woman’s cell phone and rings.
Late Tuesday night, Coral Gables police detectives were on the scene and searching for the armed robber or robbers.
