Traffic alert: Crash in Coconut Grove causing backups

A two-car accident at U.S. 1 and Southwest 17th Avenue Wednesday morning in Coconut Grove clogged traffic, causing backups to Interstate 95.

A Chevrolet Silverado pickup and a Toyota Corolla collided with the Silverado ending with the left front fender crashed into a Metrorail post. The drivers appeared uninjured.

U.S. 1 was reopened to traffic after 8 a.m. One passenger was taken to Mercy Hospital as a precaution.
