Belen water polo player’s father says son ‘embodied perseverance, determination’

The father of Lucas Osuna, a Belen Jesuit Preparatory School student who died at a water polo tournament Friday, mourned his son on a double post to Instagram and Facebook.

Lucas’ nickname was “Thor,” said Train 8NINE gym owner and retired fire rescue worker Mike Osuna wrote Saturday, “in true superhero fashion, he embodied perseverance, determination and overcoming all the obstacles life threw his way.

“We ask that you take a moment to hug your loved ones a little tighter and keep us in your thoughts.”

His cause of death during the Ransom Everglades Invitational hasn’t been released.
