Coconut Grove

There’s a water main break near Coconut Grove. Here’s what it means for traffic.

Drivers should avoid the intersection of Southwest 27th Avenue and U.S. 1 on Thursday afternoon. Traffic on 27th Avenue in and out of Coconut Grove is being clogged by a hole caused by a water main break, Miami police said.

Miami-Dade Water & Sewer repair crews have begun work on the hole, which is half a block north of U.S. 1, at the corner of Southwest 27th Avenue and Southwest 27th Terrace. Thursday afternoon, a Miami-Dade Water & Sewer spokesperson said the street should be fixed by late Thursday night.

No water service will be interrupted.

The break was in an 8-inch line. Water & Sewer called it a “natural break” and said nobody was doing work in the area.

Miami now joins Miami Beach and Fort Lauderdale as municipalities experiencing water main breaks in the last three weeks.
