Suspect arrested in Brickell rape that left a woman naked in the street
A suspect has been charged with a Brickell area rape that left a woman naked and running through the streets.
Tony Martehidalgo, 41, was arrested Tuesday and charged with sexual battery; sexual battery with serious personal injury; burglary of a conveyance; false imprisonment. He is being held without bond. A charge for misdemeanor marijuana possession was dropped.
The alleged rape took place during Saturday’s first hours in the 1400 block of South Miami Avenue, a woman told police. The black hoodie-wearing suspect escaped on foot south on Miami Avenue.
