Burglar uses a patio chair to get in and out. Then he escapes with the help of a tree.
A man stood on a patio chair and went into a Brickell-area home through a window, head first.
About 20 minutes later, he came out with what appeared to be a stuffed trash bag.
Police say the man was a burglar and the home belonged to a woman who was out of town.
On Thursday, police released video of the incident, which happened just before 8 a.m. Aug. 7 in the 2800 block of Brickell Avenue.
The bag, police said, was filled with “several thousand dollars in jewelry and other valuables.”
The man can be seen struggling to inch his way in. On the way out, he climbed out, landed on the chair and then moved the chair back where it was.
He then struggled with the bag after it broke. He can be seen, once again, using the chair, but this time to climb on a tree and leave.
The man is described as being 5 feet, 7 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 160 to 170 pounds.
The man, who has a salt-and-pepper beard, was last seen wearing a black and red Miami Heat cap, light-colored polo shirt, dark pants, work boots and orange and black work gloves.
Anyone with information is asked to call Miami Police Department's burglary unit at 305-603-6350 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
