A Rolex watch was grabbed off the wrist of a 73-year-old woman as she reached into the glove box of her Bentley, parked in front of an Aventura Bed Bath & Beyond store Thursday, according to police.

Ronny Whitebook returned to her car at about 12:30 p.m. and saw a car parked next to her, according to an incident report.

She placed a shopping bag in the back on the floor and then sat in the driver’s seat. She then leaned over to place something in the glove box. That’s when someone reached in through the open driver’s side door, put his arm around her head and pulled her toward him, according to the report.

“Suspect told victim to give him her jewelry,” a police officer wrote in the report. “Victim started screaming and blowing the horn and the suspect told her to stop and said, ‘I don't want to hurt you.’”

He then took her watch, and took off in an ivory car. The woman told police she did not get a good look at the man because he was either wearing a black bandana or T-shirt over his face.

No one was able to get the car’s tag because the man drove in reverse, according to the report.

Anyone with information is asked to call Aventura Police Department at 305-466-8999 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
