Strong-armed robbery inside Aventura kosher market ends with armed carjacking of a cab
What started as a strong-arm robbery inside a popular kosher market in Aventura Wednesday night ended in the arrest of a man after he left the market, stopped a taxi, implied he had a gun, stabbed the driver with scissors and then drove off in the cab.
The man, who has not been identified, entered Kosher Kingdom, 3017 Aventura Blvd., at about 7:30 p.m. and then took off running, police said.
A market employee followed.
The man was seen getting in a cab in the 3100 Block of North Country Club Drive. Police say he threatened the driver and a tourist inside, and used scissors to tear the driver's shirt and leave a scratch.
Both the driver and the tourist got out, and the man took the cab for a ride.
Police found him in the 19300 block of Country Club Drive. He was arrested and charges are pending.
