Four major disruptions will hamper the commute this week on major roads and highways in Miami-Dade County.
One will take place on Krome Avenue near Kendall Drive this coming weekend. Beginning 6 a.m. Saturday and continuing until 6 a.m. Tuesday, workers will close the railroad crossing on Krome Avenue just south of Kendall Drive, between Kendall Drive and Southwest 100th Street, weather permitting. Traffic will be detoured from Krome Avenue and directed to follow signs to alternate local streets. During the closing of the CSX railroad crossing, workers will replace the existing tracks and crossing surface to widen the road and improve ride quality.
Another major disruption will occur in Hialeah. Beginning 9 p.m. Friday, a full closure of the intersection of Northwest 57th Avenue/West Fourth Avenue/Red Road and Northwest 138th Street/West 84th Street will take place while workers perform water main installation. The closure are scheduled to last until 5:30 a.m. Monday. A detour will be in place to guide motorists around the work zone. The work is part of overall improvements along Northwest 57th Avenue underway from West 53rd to West 84th streets in Hialeah. The project began January 2015 and is estimated to last through June 2017 at an estimated cost of almost $41 million.
