Tens of thousands of people were at the Miami Beach Convention Center July 1-4, 2016 for Florida Supercon.

Florida Supercon is a convention hosted annually -- 11 years and counting -- filled with extravagant cosplayers, artists, celebrity guests and comic and video game lovers.

Each year it continues to grow, and on Saturday, July 2, organizers welcomed more than 20,000 patrons, its first sold-out day in Florida Supercon history.

One of the most interesting parts was the Pokemon League in the Gaming area. People were basically playing Pokemon in real life, trying to beat the champion.

Florida Supercon also provided a diverse mix of celebrity guests for fans to meet like Morena Baccarin, Nancy Cartwright, Mick Foley, Elizabeth Henstridge, Brianna Hildebrand, Alex Kingston, Ben McKenzie, Diamond Dallas Page, William Shatner, Henry Winkler, Austin St. John and Kel Mitchell.

Cosplayers were aplenty, displaying their elaborate costumes. Some said they took months to make their outfits, capturing the spirit of Florida Supercon.

Artists shared their amazing work, too, including unique creations like Scissor Storm cut paper art by Genevra Collier; Kawaii Universe handmade cute pop art by Valentina; and ABritoArt original designs and illustrations by Angelica Brito.

Overall Florida Supercon was an exciting event.

Led by Chairman Mike Broder and VP of Business Development and Operations Sandy Martin, the hosts of Florida Supercon are gearing for another event a little bit north in September. So if you didn’t get to check out Florida Supercon in Miami Beach, you can attend ANIMATE! Florida from Sept. 16-18, 2016 at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention Center, 1950 Eisenhower Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, 33316.
