Slower commutes on Homestead Extension, State Roads 836 and 826

Ongoing road projects will slow the commute this week in Miami-Dade County on the Homestead Extension of Florida's Turnpike and on State Roads 836 and 826.

On the Turnpike, up to two lanes in either direction between Southwest 216th Street and Eureka Drive may be closed nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Thursday. Also on the Turnpike, one lane in either direction between Southwest 104th and 184th streets may be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Thursday.

A closure of all Turnpike northbound lanes just north of Southwest 117th Avenue will take place from 10 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday for installation of a sign structure.

Also, one Turnpike lane in either direction will be closed from Killian Parkway to Kendall Drive nightly beginning at 9:30 p.m. The closure will expand to two lanes at 10:30 p.m. through Thursday for installation of a temporary concrete barrier. All lanes will open by 5 a.m. the next day. On another Turnpike stretch, up to two lanes northbound and southbound at various locations between Sunset Drive and Bird Road, may be closed nightly through Thursday. The first lane will close at 9:30 p.m. and the second at 10:30 p.m. Both lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. the next day.

Meanwhile, closures will take place at several locations along 836.

The entrance ramps to eastbound 836 from northbound Northwest 27th Avenue will be intermittently closed for earthwork and installation of a temporary barrier wall through Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m each night and again on Friday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Saturday. Also, the entrance ramp to eastbound 836 from northbound and southbound Northwest 42nd Avenue will be intermittently closed for installation of a temporary barrier wall through Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night and again on Friday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Saturday. In another closure, the Northwest 87th Avenue ramp to eastbound 836 and northbound 826 will be closed for restriping and barrier wall installation through Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night and again on Friday from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Saturday.
