Miami-Dade water union chief charged with DUI
The president of the union that represents Miami-Dade County water and sewer workers was arrested early Saturday.
Emilio Azoy, 53, who heads the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 121, was charged with driving under the influence.
Shortly after midnight, Miami Springs police saw a car lose control and crash near the 600 block of Curtis Parkway, according to county police.
“The officers immediately responded to the crash and noticed the driver to be impaired,” department spokesman Det. Alvaro Zabaleta said in an email.
Miami Springs called Miami-Dade’s DUI Enforcement Unit, and Azoy was charged, Zabaleta said.
