Man killed and teen wounded in Miami-Dade shooting

Police are investigating a reported shooting that left a man dead and a 17-year-old injured Wednesday night in North-Central Miami-Dade.

At about 9:15 p.m., Miami-Dade officers arrived at 2030 NW 86th St. after receiving reports of a shooting. They found two men suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue took both to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

The 17-year-old, identified as Quayvis Howard, was grazed in the head by a bullet. The man, whose identity was not released, died at the hospital from wounds to his shoulder and arm.

The shooting came hours after an unrelated incident in which a teen was shot in a confrontation with police at Southwest 112th Avenue and 224th Street. It was one of three officer-involved shootings in Miami-Dade on Wednesday.
