Slow commutes expected on Homestead Extension, State Roads 874 and 836

This week, the commute will be hampered by road work on the Homestead Extension of Florida's Turnpike, State Roads 874 and 836, as well as various surface roads.

Up to two lanes on the Turnpike in either direction between Southwest 216th Street and Eureka Drive may be closed nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., through Thursday for widening and construction of toll express lanes.

Also on the Turnpike, one lane in either direction between Southwest 104th and 184th streets may be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., through Thursday. If necessary, two lanes in each direction may be closed nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

On another Turnpike stretch, up to two lanes northbound or southbound between Killian Parkway and Kendall Drive will be closed nightly through Thursday. The first lane closes at 9:30 p.m., the second lane closes at 10:30 p.m. Both lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. the next day.

Up to two lanes northbound and southbound at various locations between Sunset Drive and Bird Road may be closed nightly through Thursday. The first lane closes at 9:30 p.m., and the second beginning at 10:30 p.m. Both lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. the next day

On 874, one lane in either direction between the Turnpike interchange and south of Killian Parkway may be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., through Thursday for work related to widening and express lane construction on the Turnpike.

The eastbound 836 exit ramp to Northwest 45th Avenue will be intermittently closed for earthwork through Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night and again on Friday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Saturday.

Meanwhile, the entrance ramp to westbound 836 from southbound Northwest 45th Avenue also will be intermittently closed for earthwork through Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night and again on Friday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Saturday.

Separately, the entrance ramp to westbound 836 from southbound Northwest 12th Drive will be intermittently closed also for earthwork through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night and again on Friday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Saturday.

Elsewhere on 836, the entrance ramp from the right lane of northbound Northwest 137th Avenue will be closed for toll equipment installation on Thursday from 10 a.m. until 5 a.m. Friday.

On surface roads, meanwhile, there'll be a complete closure of all lanes on Northwest 11th Street between Northwest 22nd and 23rd avenues for bridge demolition Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. each night.

Another complete closure of lanes will take place on Northwest 14th Street between Northwest 37th and 42nd avenues also for earthwork through Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. each night and again on Friday from 11 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Saturday.

On West Flagler Street from Southwest 102nd and 107th avenues, there'll be lane restrictions for paving and constriction of ramps and installation of signage. Work will continue through May.

Westbound Northwest 25th Street will be closed from west of Northwest 74th to 78th avenue from Friday at 9 p.m. to Saturday at 5:30 a.m. for road work.
