An 11-year-old girl on her way to a bus stop early Tuesday morning managed to “break away” from a potential abductor after he tried to grab her and throw her in his truck, according to police.
Police are now looking for the man who was driving an older model Chevy S-10 pickup truck.
“This is a man looking to lure a child,” said Jennifer Capote, a spokeswoman for Miami-Dade police.
The girl was walking at about 6:50 a.m. Tuesday on Northwest 103rd Street and Seventh Avenue when the man approached her, police said.

After talking to the girl, police said the man then asked for her help fixing his truck. As she walked toward the truck, he “grabbed her and attempted to pull her inside the truck,” police said.
She fought him off and fell to the ground.
The man then took off, heading west on Northwest 103rd Street.
“She definitely got lucky,” Capote said.
“This is a reminder that parents need to talk to their children about the dangers of the street,” Capote added.
Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
