U.S. 1 reopened after predawn accident

Traffic is flowing in both directions on U.S. 1 at Red Road (Southwest 57th Avenue) after a messy single-car accident closed it most of Tuesday morning.

The main artery had been shut since a speeding BMW slammed into the Sunset Place shopping center, strewing debris across the northbound lanes before dawn. Miami-Dade Police say the two passengers remain in serious condition.
