A man was shot Monday evening on the Palmetto Expressway, causing a traffic nightmare on the busy highway for hours.
The stretch of road is back open for Tuesday's morning rush hour.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the shooting happened at Northwest 37th Avenue and the Palmetto Expressway.
Traffic in both directions was impacted as investigators tried to piece together what happened. By 10:30 p.m. the eastbound lanes were moving, but the westbound lanes were still being impacted.

Both Miami Gardens Police Department and FHP responded. News reports show a bullet-riddled car sitting on the shoulder of the Palmetto, and video footage from the local television stations showed troopers talking to several men near the car.
The man was taken to Ryder Trauma Center, according to FHP. His condition was unknown Monday evening.
No other details including what led to the shooting were available Monday night.
