Several terminals at Miami International Airport reopened after a brief closure Monday afternoon because a piece of luggage that was left abandoned, according to Miami-Dade police.

Just before 5:30 p.m., the security checkpoints in Concourses G, H and J as well as the ticket counters and upper and lower roadways near Concourse H were back in service after the luggage was deemed safe.

“Miami-Dade Police has given the all-clear to the suspicious item,” said Greg Chin, a spokesman for MIA.

Miami-Dade Det. Daniel Ferrin said in an e-mail that the bomb squad was called out to investigate and cleared the item.

Those passengers who already made it through security to the gates were not impacted by the closure, said Chin.
