Metromover shut down for maintenance Sunday
Metromover is closed this weekend for routine maintenance, but a free shuttle bus will be available for riders to get from from station to station.
The shutdown began early Saturday morning and will stretch through 5 a.m. Monday. Buses will run about every 10 to 15 minutes.
Miami-Dade Transit spokeswoman Irene Ferradaz said the work will repair a cable that powers Metromover cars and will fix portions of the track.
While it’s not “an emergency,” she said, “it’s something that has to be done.”
“We have been trying to do this for a while,” she said. “This is first weekend that everything came together.’’
The Metromover system loops around downtown Miami above the traffic and connects 21 stations from the Adrienne Arsht Center to the Brickell financial district.
