Miami-Dade police are looking for a man who detectives say shot and killed his estranged wife and then took off.

Police say Joe Padgett, 54, confronted Katrina Padgett, 46, at her mother’s house at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

An argument at Sophia Cheeks’s home, 12820 SW 268th St., led to Joe Padgett pulling out a gun and shooting at both women, police said. Cheeks was not hit, but Katrina Padgett died in the house.

Police say Joe Padgett, who left before police arrived, should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
