A 21-month-old boy and his mother — whose custody of the boy had been legally revoked — were located Sunday afternoon after a day-long search.
Miami police spokeswoman Frederica Burden said that the boy — who was the subject of a statewide Amber Alert — was safe and in custody in Laredo, Texas. His mother, Leydibet Hernandez, 29, was also in custody and awaiting extradition to Miami. Charges are pending, Burden said.
On Sunday morning, Miami police put out a flier for the missing boy and his mother, who were last seen at a home at 2637 SW 34th Ct. An alert was issued for a silver 2014 Mazda CX7 with a Florida tag.
According to police, Hernandez’s custody of the child had been revoked.
