Miami Police say a man arrested Thursday started a crime spree last month by ripping a chain off the neck of a teenager who was walking to school.

The man then went on to rob several gas stations and a Subway, police said.

On Thursday, police said surveillance video and witnesses led them to Alfredo Garcia, 32. Police say Garcia, who confessed to several robberies, was linked to five separate cases in Miami.

Those include: Valero Gas Station, 1705 NW Seventh St.; Stop and Shop, 4777 W. Flagler St.; Subway, 92 NW 42nd Ave.; Westar, 2188 NW 20th St. and Sports Leadership and Management Academy, 604 NW 12th Ave.

Garcia was arrested and charged with several counts of armed robbery and displaying a weapon during a felony.

Police say Garcia may be linked to other cases.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
