6 men in a pickup truck sent to hospital after crash in Allapattah
Six men — who were all squeezed into the extended cab of a pickup truck — were taken to the hospital after it collided with a station wagon and ended up crashing into a light pole in Allapattah.
“They are lucky they were all in the cab and not in the bed of the truck because we could have had several people ejected into the streets, causing more serious injuries,” Miami Fire Rescue Capt. Ignatius Carroll said.
The driver of the station wagon was not injured, Carroll said. The men suffered minor injuries, he added.
The accident happened just after 6 p.m. in the intersection of Northwest 22nd Avenue and 23rd Street.
It was not clear who was heading in which direction, Carroll said.
When fire rescue crews arrived, they found the Ford pickup truck against the light pole and a Dodge station wagon in the middle of the intersection with debris scattered along the street.
Miami police are investigating.
