Uncle of 7-year-old killed in drive-by shooting arrested, charged with gun possession
The uncle of a 7-year-old boy killed in a drive-by shooting late last year was arrested Thursday and charged with possession of a firearm and possession of marijuana with the intent to sell, according to Miami-Dade police.
Police served a warrant on the home, 15120 Jackson St., Thursday after receiving tips that there was drug activity in the home.
Micheel Tobler, 40, remained in jail Thursday night.
On Dec. 27, Amiere Castro, was visiting his cousins at the home when the house was shot at with a rifle. Amiere, a first-grader from Homestead, was in the house when he was shot and killed.
Dravein “Pop” Duke, 19, and Maxwell Trewin, 18, have been arrested for the shooting and face second-degree and attempted murder charges.
On Thursday, officer in Miami-Dade’s Special Response Team served a warrant at about 10 a.m. According to police, Tobler ran to an adjacent yard and dumped a gun and about two-pounds of marijuana. Ammunition was later found in the home.
