Here’s a list of what’s open and closed on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day in Miami-Dade and Broward:

Federal offices: Open on New Year’s Eve, closed on New Year’s Day.

State offices: Open on New Year’s Eve, closed on New Year’s Day.

Miami-Dade County offices: Open on New Year’s Eve, closed on New Year’s Day.

Broward County offices: Open on New Year’s Eve, closed on New Year’s Day.

Miami-Dade and Broward courts: Open on New Year’s Eve, closed on New Year’s Day.

Public schools: Closed New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Post offices: Most post offices will shorten hours on New Year’s Eve and close at noon. All post offices are closed on New Year’s Day.

Stock market: Open on New Year’s Eve, closed on New Year’s Day.

Banks: Some may close early on New Year’s Eve. All are closed on New Year’s Day. Check with your bank for schedule.

Miami-Dade libraries: Open on New Year’s Eve from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the following exceptions: Civic Center Branch (7 a.m.-5 p.m.), Sunny Isles Beach Branch (10 a.m.-1 p.m.) and Northeast Branch (9 a.m. - noon). All are closed on New Year’s Day.

Broward libraries: All locations will close at 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, except Nova Library, which will close at noon. All are closed on New Year’s Day.

Tri-Rail: Weekend schedule on New Year’s Day.

Miami-Dade Transit: On New Year’s Eve, Metrobus, Metrorail and Metromover will operate on a regular weekday schedule. Additionally, after 8 p.m., Metrorail will continue regular weekday service with a 15-minute frequency between the Dadeland South and Earlington Heights stations; and every 30 minutes between the Palmetto and Earlington Heights stations. This service will be extended into New Year’s Day. The last northbound and southbound trains will depart from the Government Center Station at around 2 a.m. Metromover will also run until 2 a.m. On New Year’s Day, Metrobus, Metrorail and Metromover will operate on a Sunday schedule, which means that weekday-only routes, such as the I-95 Dade-Broward Express and the I-95 Express going to Golden Glades, will not run. Parking facilities at Metrorail stations will remain open through Jan. 1.

Broward Transit: Regular schedule on New Year’s Eve. Sunday/holiday schedule on New Year’s Day. Additionally, on New Year’s Eve, 95 Express Miramar Regional Park and Ansin Sports Complex Park and Ride Locations will be locked and closed to the public and only open to 95 Express customers during the a.m. and p.m. service hours. Customers will not be able to access the parks or their vehicles until the arrival time of the first p.m. service buses: Miramar Regional Park: access at 4:15 p.m.; Ansin Sports Complex: access at 4:24 p.m.

Miami-Dade garbage collection: Regular trash and recycling pickup for Miami-Dade County customers.

Broward garbage collection: Regularly scheduled pickups will take place on New Year's Day.

Malls: New Year’s Day: Aventura Mall (11 a.m.-9 p.m.), Bal Harbour Shops (12 p.m.-7 p.m.), Dadeland Mall (11 a.m.-9:30 p.m.), Dolphin Mall (10 a.m.-7 p.m.), Mall of the Americas (12 p.m.-6 p.m.), Miami International Mall (10 a.m.-9 p.m.), The Falls (10 a.m.-6 p.m.), The Shops at Midtown Miami (10 a.m.-9 p.m.), The Shops at Sunset Place (11 a.m.-10 p.m.), Village of Merrick Park (12 p.m.-6 p.m.), Westland Mall (10 a.m.-6 p.m.)
