Miami police searching for ATV driver who hit cop car

Miami Police is looking for a man who crashed his all-terrain vehicle into a patrol car, sending an officer to the hospital with minor back and neck pain.

The man plowed the ATV into the officer’s car on Northwest Fourth Avenue and 54th Street on Friday afternoon. The man ran off on foot. The cop tried catching up, but crashed into a tree not far away, according to a police spokesman.

The ATV driver was described as a heavyset black man with a full beard wearing a white tank-top and black shorts. Miami police, along with search dogs, looked for the man for more than an hour.

“He was able to get away,” said Miami Police Officer Rene Pimentel, a police spokesman.
