What’s open and closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
Here’s a list of what’s open and closed Thursday, Christmas Eve, and Friday, Christmas Day:
Federal offices: Normal hours on Thursday. Closed on Friday.
State offices: Normal hours on Thursday. Closed on Friday.
Miami-Dade County offices: Open until 5 p.m. Thursday. Closed on Friday.
Broward County offices: Normal hours on Thursday. Closed on Friday.
Miami-Dade courts: Normal hours on Thursday. Closed on Friday.
Broward courts: Closed Thursday and Friday.
Public schools: Closed.
Post offices: Most will close at noon on Thursday; mail delivery is not affected. Offices are closed on Friday.
Stock markets: Open until 1 p.m. Thursday. Closed on Friday.
Banks: Some branches will close early on Thursday and remain closed on Friday. Check with your bank for schedule.
Miami-Dade libraries: Most branches are open until 5 p.m. Thursday; closed Friday and Sunday, Dec. 27.
Broward libraries: Branches are open until 6 p.m. Thursday; closed on Friday.
Tri-Rail: Regular schedule on Thursday. Weekend schedule on Friday.
Miami-Dade Transit: Regular schedule on Thursday. Weekend schedule on Friday. Weekday-only routes, such as the I-95 Dade-Broward Express and the I-95 Express to Golden Glades, are not in service on Friday.
Broward Transit: Regular schedule on Thursday. Sunday schedule on Friday.
Miami-Dade garbage collection: Normal schedule on Thursday. No collection on Friday. On Saturday, Christmas trees can be taken to most neighborhood Trash and Recycling Centers for recycling.
Broward garbage collection: Normal schedule Thursday. No collection on Friday. Check with your municipality for schedule.
Malls: Most will close at 6 p.m. Thursday and remain closed on Friday.
What’s open: Hospitals, movie theaters, some restaurants, some Walgreens and CVS Pharmacy stores.
