Food market clerk in critical condition after shooting in Southwest Miami-Dade

A Southwest Miami-Dade food mart clerk was shot several times early Monday morning, according to Miami police.

The shooting happened at about 6:30 a.m. at Shapon Food Market, 29601 SW 162nd Ave.

Sikeer Aktaruzzaman, 69, was airlifted to Kendall Regional Trauma Hospital in critical condition.

Police said Monday it was not clear what led to the shooting.

Aktaruzzaman’s son Shafir told Miami Herald news partner CBS4 that his father was shot in the stomach and leg.

“He’s a good person,” Shafir told the station, adding that his father works in the store alone in the mornings.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
