Miami police are on the lookout for a driver who struck and killed a man Thursday night in Miami.
The man was pushing his bike across Northwest 79th Street at 1st Avenue around midnight, said Miami police spokesperson Kenia Reyes.
An unknown make and model of car slammed into the man, mangling him and his bike. The driver sped off.
Miami Herald news partner CBS4 reported that friends identified the man as Jesus Fernandez. Police won’t disclose the name of the victim until next of kin are informed.

Mabel Marti told CBS4 that Fernandez was in his 60s and disabled, but he was an avid bike rider.
“I feel awful, that was my friend. He was honest, he was a great person, if anybody needed anything, he was always there for everybody. It’s not fair. He was a great man. He used to give to a lot of people,” she said.
Police are searching for the driver and information about the accident. Reyes said Miami police are reviewing surveillance video from near the scene.
