Just in time for the holidays: freeway fix-ups that will mean blocked lanes and ramp closures as construction elves curry to and fro with beams, girders and, of course, those dreaded orange cones.

One of the most significant ramp closures is the Northwest 36th Street exit on westbound State Road 112, which has been shutting down every night from 9:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for construction of a retaining wall and general repair work.

The closures began Dec. 14 and will continue through Sunday. Miami-Dade Expressway Authority traffic engineers suggest this detour:

Continue west past the Northwest 36th Street exit. Take the LeJeune Road south exit. Turn left at Northwest 28th Street. left at Northwest 40th Avenue; left at Northwest 29th Street; and then right onto LeJeune Road. Follow LeJeune straight to Northwest 36th Street.

Meanwhile, expect nighttime traffic bottlenecks on State Road 836 around the Northwest 17th Avenue and Northwest 57th Avenue exits through Saturday night as lanes close down for installation of MDX’s new tolling equipment.

Two lanes near those exits on both the east- and westbound sides of 836 will close: Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 p.m. to 10 a.m.
