Five men were injured in a drive-by shooting in Overtown on Sunday evening.

The five victims were standing in the courtyard of an apartment building on the 1300 block of Northwest Second Avenue just after 6 p.m. when a black SUV rolled by and shots were fired at them. All five were taken to the Jackson Health System Ryder Trauma Center and are in critical but stable condition, according to spokeswoman Frederica Burden of the Miami Police Department.

Some of the victims are stable enough that they were already talking with detectives at the hospital, Burden said.

“We did get the vehicle information from one of the victims,” she said. Police don’t know any motive for the shooting at this time.

According to Miami Herald news partner CBS4, the ages of the shooting victims range from 17 to 54 years old.

Miami Police asks that anyone with information about this incident call Miami Police homicide at 305-603-6640 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.

“At this point we have no witnesses who saw anything,” Burden said. “We are considering it as a drive by, because they did spot whoever they were trying to target, hit that person and then leave.”
